Early morning at the Inverell Community Gardens, a team of volunteers chat away happily while harvesting fresh, chemical free, leafy greens for The Nourish Bar to prepare for the 100 Mile Dinner taking place that evening. Several activities were on the agenda that day, so I was lucky to be able to schedule my visit to capture these events, which also included a cooking demonstration, lunch and the Farmer's Market.
There is always something happening at the gardens, preparing beds, planting, harvesting, composting, worm farming, feeding chooks, collecting eggs and more being added to list as the operation grows. Volunteers are always welcome with the added bonus of expanding their knowledge and receiving produce when available.
